Why I married him...
While looking through my photos from the past month I found that we had snapped quite a few photos of John posed with a statue.
And I couldn't stop laughing...
His Nacho Libre pose on the back of the babies...
Kissing the woman in repose at the outside gallery...
Peekaboo with a Pope...
Snuggled up for a snooze with "grandpa" outside the restaurant we went to for dinner...
Adoring the children...
And then I had to add this one just because it made me laugh. I was TRYING to get a nice photo of myself...arm out...ready to snap the picture and he jumped in front of it.

Love Locks
I know these have been around for centuries, but the first time I ever saw a love lock was in Prague and after hearing the sentiment behind it I am bound and determined to lock one on this gate the 6th time I visit this city.
Legend has it when you find your true love you write your names on a lock and then throw the key into the river...
I didn't know this when I was there otherwise I would have been checking out the river to see if I could find a pile of keys down there. Either way...I loved this idea..I find it incredibly romantic.
And since I've found the love of my life...well, I guess its time for a love lock. :)

Lennon's Wall
Prague Prague Prague...I've been there 5 times now and STILL can't get enough of that city. This time we spent a few minutes tracking down the John Lennon Wall...Yep...he's got his own wall in Prague.
That's Christina and Matt adding a little something...
From Wikipedia one learns that the wall was a source of irritation to the communist regime as those crazy Czech youngsters would write grievances and western themed poems of love and peace...which eventually led to a clash between the students and the police on the nearby St. Charles Bridge.
WOW...for just a peak behind the iron curtain....
Regardless...the wall is still there and continuously painted, decorated and adorned with anything and everything...much of it still centered around John Lennon.
And so I got out my pen and wrote a little thought right on the rainbow vomit of the unicorn. Yep....apparently thats a significant symbol of love and peace. :)
And then John took the pen and decided to add a little something too...
Oooops...going to have to get closer...
Closer...
Still not quite there...
Ok...still can't see it!?
Hey! There we are...memorialized forever on the Lennon Wall. Its only appropriate since Prague is my favorite city in all of Europe so far...
Now sing this song to yourself and lets be thankful for freedom....just a little suggestion for the day...
Imagine there's no Heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky
Imagine all the people Living for today
Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too
Imagine all the people Living life in peace
You may say that I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions I wonder if you can No need for greed or hunger A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people Sharing all the world

Progression of a postable picture...
It starts with Mr. Annoying deciding he wants a photo so he does something cute and I end up looking ridiculous. Lets try again.
I'm not ready for a photo.
30 photos later (give or take) I finally like this one more or less...
And that is why digital cameras were a great invention for those of us super picky about exactly what photos we will share with the world via the internet.

Fourty three years ago a little boy was born...
He had a mommy who loved him...
And a daddy who adored him...
And before too long he had a brother he liked to cart around in a cage...
He loved the beach...
And fishing...
And bagpipes (which he still loves to this day...)
And he was as blond as blond gets with big blue eyes...
And then he grew up into a hottie patootie...and even modeled for a little bit...
But he loved boy scouts and all that goes with it more...
And so one day he joined the army...
And singing for him...

And so one day he joined the army...
And a lot of years went by and he had three beautiful kids and then we met...and a few more years went by...and then we got married...
and he became the father of my child...
And today, April 8, 2011 on his 43rd birthday he's donning his uniform...strapping on his weapon...heading to work in the unforgiving Afghan desert...where he plays with turtles... :) ...next to machine gun thingies and razor wire and porta potties...
But on his birthday I can't help but wish I had a better glimpse of what the man (who plays with turtles) dreamed when he looked like this...
Now his little girls are wishing him a happy birthday...
And singing for him...
And we just hope he knows how much we love him and miss him and how proud we are of him.
Happy Birthday John!

Happy 9th Birthday Maddie!
Oh what a day! And now its officially over since I'm posting this blog at 12:07AM!
Maddie turned 9 today! She has been sosososososososososo excited for this birthday. She has decided that at 9 she is finally a "grown up lady." My oh my...I've got a grown up lady on my hands now.
We started the day out much like we normally do...getting up late...eating breakfast late and then rushing Maddie out the door to make it to school before the second bell rings...
Of course on one's birthday you must stop to pose for a "rainy birthday" photo... Please note the awesome "Today is my birthday" sign I made for her and she was so excited to wear... (I love those ages where kids WANT that kind of attention.) Also please note the rockin' outfit. Maddie's art teacher told me once that Maddie dresses the way she creates...I totally see that.
Now that the birthday girl was off to school I donned my working clothes and got straight to work on one of her presents. I painted and decorated her room... FINALLY.
The finished product turned out simply adorable. She wants to paint a sunshine and some bumblebees as the finishing touches.
Now that the room is done it was time to bake the cake. I nearly had to call FEMA considering the disaster that I ended up with. Maddie wanted strawberry cake with strawberry frosting and strawberries and sprinkles on top. Is your mouth watering? (yeah...mine's not either...UGH.)
So...I cook the dang cake and it literally falls apart on me. So I glued it back together with frosting. Then the strawberry fell apart and I glued it back together with frosting then I just covered the whole lumpy mess with strawberries and sprinkles.
It was a hit. (Again...thank goodness for nine year old simplistic desires...)
We had a party for our "extended family" that we have come to love and adore while being here in Vilseck while our soldiers have been deployed. They all came over and helped us devour the entire cake...yes, I'm serious. The entire cake was G.O.N.E. And then Maddie opened some presents...
Now for the really fun part of the party... We'll call him "A" for short. He's the little boy that Maddie has had a crush on since the first day she met him in September at soccer practice. She's liked him the entire year. And if there is any boy a mother would LOVE for her daughter to crush on...this kid is it. He's so incredibly sweet and funny and he adores both Maddie and Bella... Do you see that grin on Maddie's face...thats the face of 3rd grade true love.
And he plays dressup. In fact...this kid will be an actor someday. He was so funny. Maddie can't even do her poses she was laughing so hard at him...
And the best thing of all... He spent the entire weekend working on a present for Maddie. It was this giant card...
Some candy, some blank poster paper for art projects and two dollars... Yep...two dollars...the greatest two dollars ever.
Does it get ANY cuter?

Aaaaachooo!
You know that you love someone when they are 2 years old and sneeze all over your lunch and you laugh about it instead of freaking out...
**Grossness alert**
This truly happened today and no, it wasn't just a small 2 year old toddler sneeze...it was the loud, I've been sick for the past week and still have a bunch of snot up my nose that I'm going to shoot out all over mama's lunch plate sneeze.
It was truly disgusting.
And it made me laugh really hard.
And then I ditched my pasta in the garbage can because it was truly unsalvageable...and had salad for lunch. Read More...

I soooo happy!
The other day there was a man outside of our house in the street...Bella was watching him from my bedroom window and said, "Daddy home?" I looked outside and he was generally John's build, but definitely was lacking the mesmerizing hairdo...
So we started to talk about daddy and I snatched up the camera to get a little tidbit...

10 things I miss...
1. Someone to walk Maddie to school in the morning instead of me rushing her out the door...almost always 5 minutes late... I think being late is genetic. I blame my father.
2. Cooking good food for a full sized family... like this lasagna. Which, this is the 2nd lasagna I've ever made in my life. The first was a complete disaster. It was about an inch thick because the sauce was too runny and I actually served the disaster to my mother and father in law. (I'm so sorry you had to be part of my "learn to cook" experiment featuring lasagna!)
I decided I had improved enough in my cooking skills for another try. Used Pioneer Womans' recipe. I nailed it. (So proud of me!)
3. Hair by dad... Maybe its the constant grind of day to day...but I'd forgotten how much fun bathtub hair could be.
4. Someone to paint my toenails for...
5. Breakfast in bed! I suppose it would be irresponsible for me to allow an 8 year old and a 2 year old to cook me breakfast without adult supervision...but when dad's around...guess what mom got!
6. Photos when you aren't quite ready... (every time I look at this picture I laugh outloud.)
7. Bella brushing daddy's mesmerizing hair...Its hard not to let your eyes wander up to his bangs when you stand there talking to him. Mesmerizing.
8. Romantic kisses...
9. Kids trying to make daddy laugh...
10. Do I really need to even caption this one?
